Elafonissi Beach

When we rented the car for 3 days, our first destination was Elafonissi Beach. Everyone in Crete reccommends that place for tourists, some people claim that this is the most beautiful beach in Crete.

Elafonissi is loctated around 60 km from Tavronitis and it is known for its pink sand. The pink color is the result of tiny pieces of shells and red organisms that live on the coral reefs. The same color can be also seen in Balos Lagoon in Crete and my picture comes from that place.

Unfortunatelly, I couldn’t take the pic of the sand in Elafonissi because of the huge amount of people walking and playing next to the sea.

Elafonissi is a very beautiful place but too crowded for me. I couldn’t focus on the nature and nice views because for 30 min I was trying to find a place to lay down and was a little bit irritated by people.

Finally, I got some place for myself and could enjoy swimming or rather soaking in the shallow water.

But the overall view was great!

After 2 hours spent in full sun at the beach, we decided to stop somewhere for the lunch and visit also Falassarna Beach.

The road along the coast is very twisting so it can be a huge challenge for those suffering from the motion sickness ;)

However there are a lot of spots to stop and admire the view and nature. Taking nice pics can recompense every bad mood :)

When we reached Falassarna Beach it turned out that everything was closed because it was the dinner time and probably all the tourists returned to their hotels. We did the same to start planning the next trip :)

P.S. No avocados eaten during that day.
